This is it
And so it begins....
Move out of apartment - check
Put my life supplies in a back pack - check (oof it's heavy)
Say goodbye to creepy neighbor - check
Before I begin with all the fun, I Just wanted to say to all of you how special you all are to me. The last couple of weeks of going away lunches, dinners and get togethers (thanks Buff!) has meant a lot to me. I feel very loved and blessed by you all!
First stop...Guatemala http://www.lonelyplanet.com/mapshells/central_america/Guatemala/guatemala.htm. I land in Guat City on Tuesday 10/31. Later that afternoon I catch a domestic flight to Flores, Guatemala in the north of the country, in the Peten region.
I'll stay in Flores probably two nights before heading the village of El Remate. I think it's about an hour bus ride from Flores. http://www.lacasadedondavid.com/ It's fairly well known amoung back packers, so I'm hoping to meet some cool people and get some tips on what to see and where I can find those doctors without borders.
I'll base my trip to Tikal ruins: http://www.enjoyguatemala.com/ruins.htm from La Casa de Don David.
After seeing Tikal, I plan on heading to this super cool place: http://www.fincaixobel.com/ tubing, caving and hiking. How cool is that? It's like camp for grownups!
